Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Managed Service Provider (MSP)?
A Managed Service Provider (MSP) is a third-party company that manages an organization’s IT infrastructure and end-user systems. Essentially, an MSP acts as your internal IT department, even though they are external. They handle everything from day-to-day technical support to long-term budgering and planning.
What should I look for when choosing an MSP?
Since your IT provider is a long term partner, it is best to look for a company that has a comprehensive range of services along with expertise in your industry. They should have the ability to scale as your business changes, as well as cybersecurity measures to protect your data and systems.
What is the typical onboarding process when working with Hurricane Technologies?
Once your agreement is signed we will reach out to schedule our first onsite visit to begin your onboarding. If you are transitioning from another IT provider we will work with them to seamlessly move your IT services and support to Hurricane Technologies. Depending on your company size the onboarding generally takes 4-6 weeks. However, we are available immediately for any of your support needs during the onboarding process.
Are Hurricane Technologies services scalable as my business grows?
Absolutely. As your company grows we have policies and procedures in place that allow you to grow with no interruption to your daily business activities. Throughout our years in business, some of our partners have grown from just a handful of users to over 200 users.
How does an MSP differ from traditional IT support?
It comes down to the approach; Proactive vs. Reactive. MSPs like Hurricane Technologies focus on proactive management to prevent issues, while traditional IT support is fixing problems after they happen. MSPs are long term strategic partners, helping you to focus your business on growth and set costs. Traditional IT is focused on short term fixes and may struggle to grow with your changing business needs.
How can Hurricane Technologies benefit my business?
When Hurricane Technologies becomes your IT provider, you are not just gaining years of IT experience, you are gaining a partner. We provide your business with predictable monthly costs, focusing on proactive maintenance, enhanced security, access to budget and planning, as well as a team of technicians focused on your IT, so you can focus on your business.
Are projects included with Hurricane Technologies managed services agreements?
Unfortunately, we can’t include project work with your monthly service agreement. Day to day support needs and maintenance are included. Any project work, like installing a new server, would be discussed and quoted prior to any implementation.
What geographic areas does the Hurricane Technologies cover for onsite support?
While most support requests can be done remotely, offering faster response and remediation, we are able to come onsite when needed. We generally cover all locations within an hour of the Rochester NY region.
