Our Team at Hurricane Technologies
Hurricane Technologies was founded in 2002 when Thomas Vonglis saw a need for IT support in his community. As a long time member of Rotary, and other community organizations, helping people with their IT problems, and treating them like family while doing it, was the cornerstone of his vision. Even as we have grown, treating people like people and not just a support ticket number has continued to be a core value. Our goal is simple: make support feel human again. When you call, you’ll connect with a real person—no complicated menus or long waits. And if you prefer automated support request options, we offer those as well.We value integrity, communication, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
Shawn Petti - Owner/President
Shawn was Hurricane’s first full time employee in 2004. He started on the help desk and has worked his way up to Owner and President when he purchased the company in 2021. Shawn enjoys working out, spending time at the lake with his family and cheering on the Bills!
Kara Petti - Owner/Vice President
Kara joined Hurricane in 2008 as a part time employee working to answer phones and fix computers on the help desk. She moved to work on the business side over the years and purchased the company with Shawn in 2021 when the previous owners retired. When not at work, Kara is enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, relaxing at the lake and running.
William - Sr. Systems Engineer
Bill joined Hurricane in 2011 and has been a dedicated and integral part of the team since. Outside of work, Bill enjoys his dogs, working on his car and running.
Morgan - Systems Engineer
Morgan has been with Hurricane since 2017. He is an integral part of our projects and support team. He loves to play basketball when he isn’t supporting our customers.
John - Systems Administrator
John has been with Hurricane since 2022. John provides much of our onsite support. He enjoys spending time outside with his wife, hiking and running.
Kyle - IT Technician
Kyle joined us in 2024 and works as an onsite technician for some of our customers. Kyle recently moved from Boston and now enjoys the Finger Lakes region’s numerous outdoor activities.
Matt - IT Technician
Matt joined Hurricane in 2024 and comes to us with a background and interest in cybersecurity. He enjoys hiking and cheering on the Buffalo Bills!
Allison - Office Manager/Dispatcher
Allison has been with Hurricane since 2010. She started part time and moved to full time while growing in her role. She enjoys spending time with her husband and four children.
Alex - Help Desk Technician
Alex is our newest member of the Hurricane Team after recently relocating back to his hometown in Rochester. Alex loves to game and run in his spare time.
