About Us
IT Consulting Since 2002
Owning his own business has been a life long dream of Tom Vonglis. He worked for Eastman Kodak for 22 years. His experience there focused on customer service and technical support in the field. He was an exemplary specialist and was always focused on 100% customer satisfaction. His skills and work ethic were awarded on several occasions but none more memorable than receiving the Joseph Iadarola award in 1988 and 1998. This award was given to those people who best modeled service excellence within Eastman Kodak.
In 1998, Tom started his own business in the back of his garage while realizing a need for computer support was on the rise. In 2002, the Hurricane Technologies support center opened with one part time employee on hand. As the business grew, Tom left Kodak in 2004 to work full time in the business. By the end of that year the staff had grown to five full time employees providing support to small businesses and individuals needing computer service. In April of 2005, fire destroyed the Vonglis building that housed the company.
All was lost, but perseverance and hard work overcame the devastation and the team pulled together and opened nearby three days later. Customers and businesses did not miss one minute of support from Hurricane Technologies. Over time this may be the greatest testament to our company, philosophy and team. In May of 2006, we opened the doors to our brand new location at our original address of 53 Genesee Street. In our state of the art facility and team of dedicated full time employees, we are full steam ahead to provide excellent customer service like no other!
August 2012, Cynthia Oswald and her Team from the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce, surprised Tom Vonglis with the announcement that Hurricane Technologies, Inc had been chosen as the 2012 Livingston County Small Business of the Year!
In August 2017, Hurricane Technologies celebrated 15 years of business. Led by the leadership team of Vonglis & Petti our company is stronger than ever and always prepared with the latest technology solutions for your business.
On July 1, 2021, long time employees, Shawn and Kara Petti bought Hurricane Technologies and Tom and Laurie Vonglis headed out to retirement. We are all excited to see what the future will hold!
